Our non-profit organization, Uptown Montreal Basketball (UMB) is a new start-up community program created in 2018 that seeks to empower young girls in the area of sports. There is currently an insufficient amount of teams available to foster the amount of young girls who desire to play competitive basketball in their community. 

A few of us former college basketball players and coaches saw this imbalance and decided to create a new team for them to achieve their desires. Sports, basketball specifically has power to impact and empower our young women and girls, it is recognized that sports can amplify women’s voices and tear down gender barriers. 

UMB prides itself on having women coaches on every team, whether it be a head coach of assistant. It is part of our mission to encourage and promote women empowerment in sports. 

We are located in the Uptown/CDN/NDG area, all practices are in one of these areas and games could be all over Montreal.
